Dear Colleagues,

We would like to attract new participants interested in Agricultural Sector research area.

Agricultural Mechanization proved itself as one of the most important industrial achievements in history, since it has aided farmers in producing more crops, disregarding such limitations as size of farmland and restricted time periods of sowing and harvest. Following the tendency, recent years revealed anther stage of research and development in Agricultural Machinery, being mostly focused on improvements of the machinery effectiveness itself. For instance, precision technologies introduced in farm machinery make its application interesting and challenging. That includes GPS, sensors, electronic controls of yield monitoring systems and variable rate applications. At last, using drones in the agriculture outstands with the new heights promised.

On the other hand, there were some challenges for the agricultural sector in recent years. The world population keeps growing (it is estimated as reaching 9 billion by 2050), so it has led farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs to use multiple agricultural systems at their capacity edge, following the increasing food demand. More often than not, producers’ only goal was to increase their incomes, disregarding the environmental and social aspects. The pursuit for greater yields and profits (i.e. excessive use of chemicals, soil tillage, continuous cropping, or deforestation) had harmed some agro-ecosystems, reducing their fertility and biodiversity, which increased environmental pollution and forced farmers and agriculture companies to abandon rural areas. Furthermore, there is such factor as global warming which requires us to reconsider production approaches, so GHG emissions could be reduced. All in all it appears necessary to make an agri-food production sustainable in the economic, environmental and social aspects. In this context, the creation of a sustainable agri-food sector relies not only on producers, but also on consumers and their behavior, as well as on investments to agroecology transition.[....]
